A very historic restaurant with lovely atmosphere. We stopped by for a light bite and early afternoon coffee, we enjoyed the food and drinks. Will visit again soon for dinner.
High-end dining experience, with delicious food. We booked quite a while in advance ... just as well, as was full. Quite a few people there to celebrate events (birthdays), but a good sound level. Recommended.
Honestly very overpriced for the food. I get that the cafe itself is very significant and the vibrant walls bring out life in the late 1800s. Being that Picasso was commissioned to paint at this cafe, it felt like we were transported back to that time but....At the end of the day it's still a restaurant that undelivered on that wow factor that the prices call for.If the menu included any sort of biography about the place or the significance of its history then it would make the experience more grandiose.
The atmosphere was very good. Els 4 Gats was opened 127 years ago! We sat at the 1st floor so we could enjoy the nice view of the restaurant. The interior decorations were old but well maintained. There was live piano music at night. Good service. The food was not bad. But the octopus was a bit chewy. And the Crema Catalana was disappointing since it did not have a crispy layer of caramel.
A fantastic restaurant in Barcelona’s old town with beautiful, traditional decor that showcases its 125-year history. The atmosphere was vibrant, especially with live music adding to the authentic Spanish feel. The food was flavorful, though a bit on the expensive side. The paella was tasty, but the portion could have been more generous. The sangria was served in a large pitcher, which was nice, but also a bit pricey. The only downside was the waiting time, which was quite long, so be prepared to relax and enjoy the ambiance while you wait.A great spot to experience the charm of classic Barcelona, ideal for soaking in the history and enjoying the lively vibe.
