We were going for regular tacos and stumbled upon this gem Really good and creative food based on mexican cuisine, with Asian and American twists.Just trust the staff with your orders - you won’t be disappointed!!
What a fantastic place !In an alley that you won't go, if you don't know where you going, you will find this awesome little restaurant. The best waiter with the greatest passion for their food and drink. Listen to them and get your recommendations for what to eat and drink, it's worth it
My favorite Mexican restaurant in Barcelona. The food was amazing, every dish I’ve tried was so yummy. I liked the mix of Mexican and Japanese cuisines. The oysters were great and fresh! Cocktails are the best! I’ve tried almost all of them and enjoyed each drink. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, they speak English and Spanish, and all the drinks and food they suggested were top! Later in the evening, they had a DJ, but it wasn’t too loud so it was comfortable to talk. The prices are good, it wasn’t expensive at all. Definitely will come back!
Great value for money! It’s a Mexican restaurant but fused with some Japanese dishes that makes the offerings much more interesting! As mentioned, prices are really good and staff is very nice in general. We will come back again!
This was a huge surprise!Normally, when I see fushion places and especially such clearly "hipster" venues, I don't have high hopes. But Chamako actually succeeded well.Yes, it's got that cool, edgy street art hipster vibe. There is graffiti and pasteups on the walls. Neon lighting. Swear words. Very young staff with young(ish) customers. All the hallmarks of some quirky Asian fushion joint to appeal to zoomers and millennials. The thing is, it can work. Not every venture like this is bound to be cringe... if the food hits. And it does. There are a lot of Mexican places in Barcelona. I don't know why exactly, nor how good they generally are, but there are a lot. This one, I am guessing, is different. The mainly Japanese-inspired fushion actually works. There is the guacamole "show," which is essentially tableside guac making. It's quirky and fun for the right sorts of people, but a little awkward for others. If you don't want to be the centre of attention, just order the guac without the show. But if you don't get the show, you'll miss out on the AMAZING spicy dark chocolate truffle. I probably would have added more lime and pepper for myself, but it was a solid guac and the chips were excellent. The ceviche was totally delicious! Very refreshing. Acidity was perfect and the fish incredibly fresh and smooth. The only nachos we could order were the Nipon style because unfortunately every other option had truffle oil in the cheese. Why??? That was probably the biggest disappointment. I don't know why people like it, but there should be some dishes with it and some without because some people hate it. It's like cilantro. The pork cheek tacos were far less Asian fushion and more Greek fushion. But they were tasty all the same, and the meat succulent.I didn't try the cocktails cos it wasn't that sort of night, but I would have liked to. They have a very large bar.Overall, we had a surprisingly good time and would definitely try it again.
