How you treat customers says a lot. This place was recommended to me. But the service was poor at best.It would also help that welcome staff actually treat visitors with respect instead of assuming someone just wants to use your bathroom. Where i come from we wash our hands before eating. The food was ok, unhelped by the waiter not wanting to bring me a glass of water to take my medication before i ate....The paella. NOT the best paella I had and not much filling for the cost. A bit over pompous. I'd avoid. There are better places.

Nested under the arches and in the gallery of an historical building, a few blocks from the ramblas and by the sea, this old typical restaurant is a good discovery. Although it can be touristy, its vibe makes me think about the old Parisian bistrot, however with great Catalan food. a good service and a good menu in a historical place. It’s a safe choice in case you do not have time to go outside the city center.

A lovely elegant dining environment in a well established restaurant for over 180 years of history. The waiters dressed in white neat uniforms were professional and courteous. I enjoyed the two starters, Cod Fritters and Octopus with Slightly Spicy Poor Man's Potatoes. (Funny name )However their paella with my high expectations was a bit let down. We ordered Monolete Paella, ingredients wise was fantastic, the mix of meat and seafood was generous and fresh but the texture was too wet (felt like eating risotto) and the taste was overly salty.

It's a pretty good traditional Spanish restaurant with good service and good wine. It's worth a try if you like that style. It's a bit pricey for my taste, and they seem to cook their paella in the oven instead of fire, because there's no socarrat. Their own wine they have is nice also.

We visited this restaurant because it was well known for it's historical aspect and we wanted to go and taste the flavors. The service was very kind and helpful. The 4 stars are because I wanted to experience more great flavors. The Paella wasn't that good for me as it should be, I live in Greece and I know about seafood, but the croquettes and crema catalana were amazing the best dishes of our courses. Overall it was a good experience.
